The Michigan Renaissance Festival

The Michigan Renaissance Festival is the largest ren fest in the state and it's blast to attend if you get into these things.

I go from time to time but I've never dressed up- for one thing it's always too damn hot to put on a big ren faire dress and corset thing and trudge around in the dirt walking for miles- because parking and getting to the fair can be quite a hike- seriously a freaking hike like a couple miles depending on where you park. Then once you get inside you'll walk a couple more miles to get around the whole village.

So if you go- please wear comfortable shoes. Made the mistake of wearing flip flops one year- nope, never again. It's tennis shoes for me.

The Festival is located in the fictional village of Holly Grove in Holly Michigan. The little village sits there all year long even though the festival is only open for about 2 months.

The festival kicked off this weekend and will be open every weekend now through October 3. This weekend's theme is the Royal Ale Festival which means there will be beer tasting.
