Kickstarter- Morganville: The Web TV Series

Rachel Caine is looking to make her highly successful Morganville Vampires book series into a web based TV series.

Readers who want to help her get it kickstarted can help by pledging. Based on your pledge you get different rewards from Rachel.

Morganville: The Series - a high quality web TV series based on the int'l bestselling Morganville Vampires novels by Rachel Caine.
From Rachel Caine:
So, either you’re a lover of vampire fiction, or a YA novel fan, or a reader of my books, or a follower of Blake Calhoun’s (Loud Pictures) excellent work … or you’re here totally by mistake. In any case, WELCOME!
This is the Kickstarter to fund an adaptation of the Morganville Vampires novels for web TV. And it will be epic
If you don’t know anything about Morganville, here goes: a brave teen (Claire Danvers) moves to the very isolated West Texas town to attend the local university, only to (a) run afoul of the local mean (very mean) girls, and (b) move to the safety of off-campus housing with three strangers.
But the plot thickens when she discovers that her new housemates aren’t crazy: Morganville really is run by vampires. They own it, and every one in it. And now ... they own her.
The series is a New York Times, USA Today and #1 international bestseller, and the first novel, Glass Houses, was recently voted the most popular book among UK school children … ahead of powerhouses like Twilight and Harry Potter. There are 14 novels currently available, with the last, Daylighters, coming out November 2013.
I’m from Texas, as is my co-conspirator (and producer/director) Blake Calhoun. And we’re planning to film in Texas – where the novels are set – if this Kickstarter succeeds.
What do we need? $75,000 in production cash to fund the essential first season costs like actors, equipment, effects, music … and, of course, the goodies we’re offering as incentives. If we go over that goal, we’ll make better episodes, or even more episodes.
But what we really need is you. Your support, and spreading the word to others, because Morganville fans want to see this happen … we’ve got the emails, petitions and fan videos to prove it.
So become a Morganville resident. We promise … you’ll never want to leave. Thank you!
From Blake:
I'm a big believer in the D2F (Direct-To-Fan) world we now find ourselves living in whether it be for musicians, writers, filmmakers or artists in general. It's a great time to be a content creator. And there honestly couldn't be a more interesting project for me to be involved with than this one...
An international best-selling book series with (built-in) fans around the world - and no TV show or movie has been made yet? I'm in.
I think if you were looking for a recipe for crowd-funding a project this would be it and I'm very humbled and grateful to be involved.
I've produced and directed four online series (web TV shows) including PINK-The Series,Exposed (for Warner Bros. and TheWB.com), an indie sci-fi thriller called Continuumand 88 HITS, a mockumentary about a mob family who's going broke. These shows have been distributed around the world and have millions of views on sites like Hulu, YouTube, Koldcast TV, JTS TV, and more.
So from the experience I've gained from this past work, I hope to successfully bring these books to life - with your help of course.
Thank you for whatever you can contribute whether it be a simple tweet (or re-tweet) or $10,000 to become a Co-Producer of the show. Everything helps (especially $10K). :) Thank you!
