Dark romance, jealousy, and a dangerous fixation Guest Blog and Giveaway with Jess C. Scott

Dark romance, jealousy, and a dangerous fixation – The Devilin Fey
By Jess C Scott

As a writer, I love the world of paranormal, because of the new worlds, concepts, values, and perspectives to explore. I like to challenge myself to come up with something fresh/original too.

The hot love/sex scenes that I write can range from sensuous to explicit. I will never write a love/sex scene where it’s “just about the sex (the physical act).” I like including psychological and emotional elements in my work—I feel this lends a certain amount of depth and authenticity to both the storyline and the characters.

With The Devilin Fey, I’d been wanting to write a story with an incubus for quite some time (since 2006 / The Devilin Fey was written about two years later). Dreams are another whole new realm to meander about in (dreams being of significance, since an incubus/succubus descends upon mortals ‘as they sleep’). I enjoy writing contemporary fiction, so I made sure there was a balance between the urban setting where the story takes place, and the fantasy elements which drive the plot.

To me, great characters and a great storyline are the essential elements of a great story. That’s pretty much all there is to it.

EXCERPT:

There, on the rocks, was a figure—my real stranger. I had no proof, no validation. The blood in my veins knew he was the one.

He had spiked short hair on the top, a soft kind of faux hawk. Some sleek, longer strands reached the base of his neck.

He was also shirtless, but the thing that caught my attention, that made me do a double-take, was what appeared to be a pair of wings on this pale figure’s back. A pair of ashen-grey, draconic wings. They came up slightly over his shoulders, and the tips were folded across the small of his back.

It was a beautiful night. The waves were gently washing in upon the shore. And there this pristine figure calmly sat.

ABOUT THE BOOK / BOOK BLURB:

“The Devilin Fey” is a novella of two stories. Story #1 features a demure young woman unleashing the “devil in” her, through the intimacy with an incubus. Story #2 features a voyeuristic succubus driven by jealousy and a dangerous fixation.

This sounds like a very interesting book. I've only read one or two stories that had incubi and succubi in them. I thought that they were pretty interesting.

"I know that the contest to win this book is over but I just wanted to say that it sounds very intriguing. There aren't many romance books that center around incubi or succubi (at least to my knowledge) so congratulations on thinking outside the box. The cover art is lovely also."
