A Review of Wages of Sin

Five Fangs All the Way and Then Some for Wages of Sin by Jenna Maclaine

Jenna Maclaine's debut novel, Wages of Sin is a fantastic fast paced book that you won't want to put down until it is finished. I know I didn't. What an amazing blend of paranormal elements, romance, danger, and all placed in a historical backdrop.

Dulcinea Macgregor Craven appears to be the average debutante member of the ton in Regency England, except she's not. She's a witch, one of the Macgregor witches from Scotland.

All is pretty wonderful in Dulcinea's world, the only thing she has to worry about is unwelcome advances from a suitor she doesn't care much for. Then one night on the way home from a ball her parents are killed. Then suddenly Dulcinea's world is turned upside down. Her powers overwhelm her as her mother's power is passed onto her and mixes with her own awakening power. But the magic is the least of her worries after she is attacked by a vampire.

Soon her world is filled with vampires, demons and even a werewolf. Danger is everywhere and she's fighting for her life while trying to save the lives of those she holds most dear. Can she save them all and save herself? Or will she have to make the ultimate sacrifice to battle a demon that just won't give up?

Wages of Sin is a fast paced thriller, a totally engrossing novel I couldn't put down. I almost devoured it in one night but finally had to put it down at 2 am and get some sleep.

Jenna Maclaine has written a captivating tale that hooked me on the very first page. Smoothly written, well flowing, and completely riveting this book is a must read for all those into books with passionate paranormal appeal.

Dulcinea Craven is a charming witch, a strong protagonist that women can relate to. Innocent yet brave, sweet yet sexy. A blend of everything wonderful and womanly. And Michael, her vampire love interest is red hot and completely charming with total fang appeal. All of the characters are well written and alive (though most are undead).

Wages of Sin is a definite keeper. Maclaine writes with such fluidity, the story absorbed me right into Cin's world. A total page turner.

This is a series that is going high on my priority list. Maclaine's writing style is completely addictive and I want more.

At the end of Wages of Sin, there was a sneak peak at book two in the Cin Craven series, Grave Sins. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy and read the entire book.
