Did anyone catch the new paranormal show on BBC America Saturday night?
Being Human casts a vampire, a werewolf and the ghost of human as flat mates. I watched it, twice. Not sure if I am enamored of it yet.
I am kinda tired of characters that sit around and bitch and moan about what monsters they are. The werewolf is a wimp and the vampire is not into being a vampire. Of course they make the "others" of their kind actual monsters. The werewolves are mindless killers and the vampires...devious killers that turn too many of their victims to vamps.
That's another problem I have. I hate when vampires "have" to kill to feed, totally unnecessary and I hate it when the mythology is that everyone who gets bit turns into a vampire. Seriously if vampirism spread through just one bite the whole world would quickly be overpopulated with vamps. That's like if every time a human took a bite of food they conceived. Totally unrealistic.
I suppose there are special circumstances but sometimes the general mythology is being bit equals turning into a vampire. I don't generally like that. I believe being changed into a vampire should be a little more complex than that. I guess on Being Human they do have to share blood but they minimized the importance of this. They totally simplified the experience.
Anyway, I'll keep watching Being Human to see how the show evolves, it does look like it might get interesting. Plus the vampire is a hottie.
I also watched the season finale of Primeval. I wonder if that's the end. I heard it was getting bad reviews and not very good ratings plus so many main characters left. That I didn't like. I was just getting into the show then they started killing everyone off.
BBC shows don't seem to keep the steam going. Robin Hood (which actually looks like it is coming back for a third season), Primeval...they all start out interesting then go downhill. I never did watch Hex since I didn't catch it from the beginning. I think I'll get the show on DVD and give it a try.

Roxanne, stick with it... we got to watch this over in the uk a while ago, by episodes 3, 4 and onwards it really picks up and turns into one of the best series out there. honest!
I saw that on the BBC and wondered. But Everlost thinks it's worth watching, so I might give it a try. I wanted to watch Hex but missed so much of the beginning and it didn't seem to take. Am just getting into Torchwood now.
I watched the Being Human and the jury is still out. I'll try another episode or two before I make a decision. Next week's show looked to have a little excitment.
I'll keep watching it since it does look like it will get better. I always give a show more than one episode.
Hell, if I stopped at one episode I would have never loved Bones so much since the first couple episodes were really brainiacy, all technical words and no personality but then the writers found a groove and the rest is history. :-)
I tried Hex after hearing about it too but didn't follow since it wasn't from the beginning.
Unfortunately Roxanne, Primeval was cancelled. I read that over on the TV Guide website. I've watched a few eps of BH and while it's not a masterpiece, it's at least something entertaining on a Saturday night. So I'll stick with it. As for Robin Hood, watched the third season and was so disappointed by it. But then, a few things (actually one big thing) happened in other seasons that already soured it for me. So thank goodness it's not coming back after season 3.
