Vampires and Mistletoe with Lisa M. Basso and Your Chance to Win a Copy of Holiday Treats

I’d like to start by thanking Roxanne for having me today. I absolutely love Fang-tastic Books and it’s a thrill to be here!

When most people think of Holiday stories, not many of them would include vampires. I think it’s safe to say, I’m not most people.

When I sat down to write BLOOD UNDER THE MISTLETOE, I knew it had to include something paranormal. The question was what?

Vampires have been in my life since I was about twelve years old. Reading Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire then sneaking in to the theaters to see the film version started something very epic in me. And let me tell you, you haven’t lived unless you’ve dreamt of sultry vampires. So, it only seemed natural to include one of my favorite creations in my first published short story.

BLOOD UNDER THE MISTLETOE, my addition to HOLIDAY TREATS, a fantastic grouping of Holiday shorts, focuses on Holly, a very likable but human woman in her twenties who has managed to snag herself a very hot vamp and a whole lot of trouble.

Blurb:

While Holly Devereux, a spirited southern belle, prepares for a holiday trip to spend Christmas with her family, a fang-toothed stranger has something else in mind when he kidnaps her and nearly drains her dry. Holly’s lover, a sexy and devoted vampire named Victor discovers she’s missing and pools his resources of undead friends—and enemies—to help her.

When Holly uncovers she was taken because of a secret in her blood, everything she thought she knew changes. She has to discover if Victor, a man who refuses to give her human heart what she most desires, is worth her time, find a way to escape from the center of a deadly witch’s coven, and make it back to her family alive in time for Christmas.

Nowadays, everywhere you turn, vampires are springing to life. Charlaine Harris and her booming True Blood enterprise, Stephenie Meyer and all the teen angst of the Twilight Saga, and Christine Feehan and her Carpathians, are all great examples of timeless vamps.

There have been many recent advances in vampires (or vampyres, as some call them). Now they can walk in the middle of day, sparkle in the sunlight, and some don’t even need to drink blood. However you like your vamps, take heart knowing those who love them are doing what they can to keep the too-sexy-for-words undead alive in modern day fiction, because the world would be a much less sexy place without our friend, the vampire.

For more information on BLOOD UNDER THE MISTLETOE or my upcoming novella, BLOOD BONDS, and to read an excerpt, visit my blog at: http://angel28140.livejournal.com/

BLOOD UNDER THE MISTLETOE is a dark, seductive tale with vampires, witches, mystery, suspense, and romance that everyone must read at least once. That’s why I’m giving one lucky commenter the chance to read it for free!

Now comes the fun part, leave a comment telling us who your favorite vampire is and why. One winner will be chosen at random to receive an e-book copy of HOLIDAY TREATS!

Gotta say, my all time favorite is Spike. He went from pure evil (still loved him) to an ideal vamp boyfriend (loved him more).

Hi :)
Thank you for sharing here today Lisa. I loved the blurb. I would not have known it was a paranormal romance anthology by the cover. I love Lestat and Jack Fleming for vampires.
Thank you again for sharing.
Are you on Twitter, Lisa?
All the best,

Loved your post, Lisa. Hands down, my favoriet vampire is Eric Northman in Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series. Eric floats my boat, whether he's the Nordic hunk of my imagination or the real-life Alexander Skarsgard.

I adore Eric from the Sookie books. He's such a bad boy, but so good at it. And he's sexy as all get out.

Blood Under The Mistletoe really sounds like an excellent read Lisa. Holiday Treats sounds great to. My favorite vampire would be Lestat from Interview with a vampire. Sookie Stackhouse's Bill and Eric are not bad either. I like them both for different reasons, they both have some interesting qualites about them.
