An Introduction and Some Paranormal Bits & Pieces

First, an introduction, my name is Deidre and I've been invited as a contributor by Roxanne.  I'll be posting interesting tidbits from around the internet about the paranormal which is one of my all-time favorite subjects.  I'll also be posting contest round-ups and book reviews.  You can also find me at my own blog, Gothic Asylum Reviews.

Orbit Books has the covers for Marjorie Liu's Hunter Kiss series. They'll be releasing over the course of four months beginning with The Iron Hunt this May. I think they're gorgeous and I'm looking forward to this series.

Abigail of All things Urban Fantasy, showcased the covers for Ilona Andrews' Bayou Moon scheduled for release in September of 2010 and Jennifer Estep's Web of Lies which is due May 25th of this year.

Wicked Little Pixie has a series list for all kinds of book series, including many paranormal, science-fiction and urban fantasy series. According to Natasha, it's a combined effort between her and Jackie of Literary Escapism.

Rob Zombie's Halloween II was released on DVD yesterday and next week will see the release of Pandorum and Gamer to DVD. I've been looking forward to all of these. Worth the hype? We shall see.

Paranormal movies releasing in theaters for the month of January include Daybreakers, The Book of Eli and Legion.

Daybreakers stars Ethan Hawke and is about a future in which vampires are overrunning the world and humans are the minority, hunted down for their precious blood. I never thought vampires everywhere would be a problem, but maybe I was wrong. (Released January 8)

The Book of Eli stars Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman, an actor I've adored and had a secret fetish for ever since Dracula. Okay, I guess it's no longer a secret. Anyway, the movie is about the all important book which hinges humanity's only hope for survival and its protector, Eli. (Releases January 15)

Legion is about a pregnant waitress, expecting the savior of mankind. She is protected by archangel Michael, played by Paul Bettany along with a small band of heroes who are trapped in a diner with her. See below about the popularity of angels recently. (Releases January 22)

Skhye's Ramblings found some interesting articles online, one of which was about the recent angel craze and can be found here. Fallen angels have never looked so good!

That's all for now.  What new books and movies are you looking forward to?
