What does that mean?
It means we're going to discuss some YA books and their authors and a couple YA authors are dropping by for interviews, guest blogs and giveaways. Woo Hoo!
Do any of you read YA along with the adult paranormal and urban fantasy books?
I do on occasion. I have a stack yet to be read because I am really behind on my review books but they look fab and I really want to read them.
My ten year old is reading most of them. She loves the Demon Princess books by Michelle Rowen. She's read my review copies of them before I had a chance to get to them. I am glad they are age appropriate.
A couple YA series have a lot of sex in them and wouldn't be good for a ten year old. I am hoping the ones I am giving her don't. So far I am going by recommendations and reviews.
She's really into the Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber (who will be dropping by for a guest blog)
Another YA series she is enjoying (well the first book anyway since the second isn't out yet) is Kim Harrison's Madison Avery series.
So what PNR/UF YA books do you read? Any?
What about your kids? Which ones do they enjoy?
Do you have any recommendations on which ones are age appropriate for a 10 year old? She's past most simple books and can read on an adult level, I just worry about content.

The only YA books I have read are the Twilight books.
I cannot help with books for 10 year olds---my baby is 40 years old.
I do read some YA if there is something with good reviews that sounds interesting. I don't think anything I've read recently would be appropriate for a 10 year old though.
I know that's the problem I deal with too, YA doesn't always mean PG.
Many YA books have a lot of sex and violence, perhaps on a level a teen can deal with and has to deal with but a 10 year old doesn't need to deal with all that yet. It's hard to find decent books u8nless you read them yourself to know exactly what's in them.
The Dark Divine was pretty safe, so is Forget-Her-Nots. I love YA stories, even though I am not. Also Firespell was OK for a younger girl if I remember correctly.

I adore YA books but most seem to have sex and/or violence that wouldn't be good for tween/young teen. My favorites are Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater and The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins but wouldn't recommend either for a 10 year old (I have a almost 10 year old son). Inkheart by Cornelia Funke and Spellhunter by R.J Anderson were both good and I wouldn't mind my kids reading them.
I've heard great things about The Mysterious Benedict Society but neither my son or I have read them.
My son is into the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series at the moment. He's read them over and over. He also likes Charlie Bone and The Guardians of Ga'hoole. He thinks romance is icky and avoids anything that might even mention the word kiss ;) He's not a fan of vampires either and thinks Twilight is "dumb". Nothing like his vamp loving mama :)
I love YA books. Right now I'm reading BEAUTIFUL CREATURES and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I read a lot of YA books.My niece got me into reading them.
Vampire Academy series by Richelle mead is great as is the Moganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine(my favorite YA series)

Wicked Lovely Series by Melissa Marr.There are so many great YA books.
I love YA fantasy and have a lot of favorites, including THE BOOK THIEF by Markus Zusak, ELSEWHERE by Gabrielle Levin, and IN THE FOREST OF HANDS & TEETH by Carrie Ryan.
Has your daughter read INKHEART by Cornelia Funke? It's a WONDERFUL book and definitely appropriate for a 10-year-old. If she likes it, there are two more books in the trilogy.
Honestly I haven't read any YA books since I was 10 or 11 other then the Twilight series. But I have found a few I'd like to give a shot.
I just recently re-discovered YA books again. I've been reading them along with my adult books.
Oh, the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld is clean, as far as I remember. They do deal with some mature issues in the third book but book one and two I think are safe. A little kissing but that's really about it. It's a really great series. :D Oh, Got Fangs by Katie Maxwell was a hilarious read, but I don't really remember the content. I know book two gets really steamy but I think the first book was just silly fun.
