A Review of THE DARKNESS AND THE NIGHT: BLOOD AND COFFEE

The Darkness and the Night Blood and Coffee is Lisa Lane's first book in the trilogy published by RavenousRomance.com

Labeled as paranormal romance or dark romance, I'd have to say The Darkness and the Night Blood and Coffee is more horror with a dash of romance tossed in combined with a touch of erotica.

It is full of darkness, death, and a bit of gore along with an underlying storyline consisting of a weird romantic love/hate relationship between the two main characters- Billy and Karen.

He loves her, turns her into a vampire, leaves her, comes looking for her, is supposed to extract revenge on her due to her father's involvement in the death of one of Billy's family members but neither of them can fight the powerful bond connecting them.

It's a wicked strange ride into a dark world of forbidden sex, vampire cults, and demon hunters and the weirdness that dwells within our minds.

Lisa Lane has managed to combine it all into one fascinating read that defies conventional genre labeling. She's a great storyteller with a wild imagination and if you are interested in something dark and new this is a book for you.

Maybe we could label it as a horroticamance?

Thank you so much for reviewing THE DARKNESS AND THE NIGHT: BLOOD AND COFFEE, Roxanne! I enjoyed your comments.

Incidentally, yours is very similar to Penthouse Forum's review. ;-)

Even more uncanny, one of my slogans for the series is THE DARKNESS AND THE NIGHT: Horrotica with a Bite!

You rock.

huh?

I haven't read the Penthouse review except for the few snippets you've posted. I guess that's good.

I like the "horrotica with bite" tagline it definitely works for your stuff.

Here's a larger excerpt from the Penthouse Forum review:

"Thanks to Twilight and True Blood, vampires are hot and sexy again, but while Blood and Coffee taps into that trend it is definitely more of a horror fantasy than a straightforward erotic novel. Many of the characters here come to grisly ends, so it's not for the squeamish, but Lisa Lane manages to keep the action moving at a relentless pace while detailing Karen's conversion from human to vampire and all the dilemmas she faces along the way. This is the first part in a trilogy, and there are enough clues as to how the action will progress to ensure those who like a bit of gore with their sexual tension will hunt down the second and third volumes."

What can I say? Great minds think alike. ;-)
