Vampires…Hooray!

I love vampires! My enjoyment of them actually started with Dracula and reruns of Dark Shadows I watched on the Syfy Channel (it was called the Science Fiction Channel back in the day) the summer I started junior high school. Barnabas Collins had such a sad story, and his longing for the pretty Miss Winters made me sigh. I’ve been writing about vampires since I was in high school, but I never thought that other people would enjoy my vampires and paranormal creations until this year when my writing started finding publishers. It’s been so much fun to share my various twists on the best monster ever with the world. Vampires used to be scary, but now they are pure sex, gotta love that! There are so many new paranormal series to read and to watch. I’m so glad that I’m not the only paranormal junkie looking to be entertained. It used to be hard to find something new and vampire or paranormal, now it’s hard not to.

I have several different vampire shorts out with a novella and novel scheduled for release this quarter. None of my vampire tales are written alike, none of the mythology is a like. I’m so random I don’t even stick to one kind of vampire. Variety is the spice of life and my love of vampires is like my taste in ice cream, I always get the next new flavor. Sure there is always the old favorites, but I happily sample everything vampire that I can get my hands on. There is just something very sexy about the intimacy of the whole bite thing. The act has penetration with the fangs and then the whole blood exchange is symbolic of the human desire for deep real connection with another. Frankenstein’s monster or the mummy just can’t compare. I do think werewolves/shifters are sexy too, but vampires are still my number one favorite!
