What you don't know can come back to bite you...

What happens when things which exist in legend become your entire universe? Alexandra Drakis never thought she'd have anything but a normal life until the night she is found by a vampire and realizes she is anything but normal. She is plunged into a dangerous world where nothing is entirely what it seems and learns the lines between good and evil is blurry at best. Close your eyes and hide under the covers, but the monsters never go away and no one can hide forever.

A compelling story about good and evil and the shades of grey in between. No sparkling happy vamps in this book.

There's romance, sensuality, sexual tension and violence... lots of violence in this rich story that takes us all over the world and into history through the eyes of the vampires. An engrossing read worth checking out.

What would you give up...

...to avenge the murder of your only daughter?

Justine Kroft knows what she would give up. Everything. About to die during a failed attempt to kill one of the men responsible for her daughter’s death, Justine is saved by Simone Gireaux, a 350 year old vampire. Justine envies her rescuer’s strength and speed and convinces Simone to make her a vampire, as well. At first Simone is reluctant, but she knows what it means to lose a loved one to brutal murderers.

With the help of Justine’s only true friend, Teresa Diaz (a mortal whose daughter is missing) and Detective Harry Frazer (who has loved Justine for years), Justine and Simone join forces to find and kill the mortal men involved in her daughter’s death. But the real killer is Stephan Sinakov, the self-anointed Master of the Sinakov Vampire Family. In their final confrontation with Sinakov, Justine must make a choice between her daughter and the mortal man whose love for her has put his life on the block.

This is a fast paced read full of vengeance. Vampires are the center of the story when a mother is willing to give up everything including her life to receive revenge against the men who raped and killed her daughter.

Being a mother I can understand this woman's pain but also because I am a mother the whole subject matter made me squirm. I can't stand reading about things happening to people's kids because I feel it so strongly it turns my stomach and leaves me cold for days.

I am sure others would be moved by this type of story in en entirley differnt manner.

This is a classic urban fantasy type of tale with a paranormal romance twist- the romance is lesbian. This is one of the first lesbian paranormal romance/urban fantasy books that I've read and I have to admit that I really enjoyed it.

Being that many urban fantasy books focus on female power in a male dominant world it was nice to see an alpha female in a positive light considering that most UF and PNR books always make the alpha female into an evil bitch. It's like no one but the heroine can be a positive female in those books. The female vampires, werewolves and witches (anyone other than the main character) are often cast negatively. So I love the postive spin on girl power this book has going for it.

In this book you'll find werewolves, magic, and refences to the goddess religion combined with mystery, police procedure, and a great bit of f/f romance.

They are great books worth checking out.

I know a lot of people don't read small press books either because they just never hear about them or because they don't think they are worth it- but these are.

You never know when you're going to find an amazing gem of a book. It can be anywhere.
