Collision is the first book in
the Colliding Worlds trilogy, where
two alien races have come to earth. Each book in the trilogy stars a different
extraordinary woman who must find the strength to save the world,
and—hopefully—live a little happily ever after. Collision comes out July 30 as an eBook everywhere.
Was
one of your characters more challenging to write than another?
I had
a harder time with writing species
rather than character. Adding two
alien races to the mix meant I was starting from scratch – from language to
diets, from biology to cultures. It was both challenging and fun.
What
is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it,
without spoilers of course?
The
Club Mayhem scene. It’s a Goth club where the reader gains new insights into
all three races in the trilogy (humans, Sephians, and Draeken).
Can
you tell readers a little bit about the world building in the book/series? How
does this world differ from our normal world?
The setting
for the trilogy is current-day earth, but most of the scenes take place on the
alien bases on our world. So, while some things are similar, other things are
drastically different from what we know.
Do
any of your characters have similar characteristics of yourself in them and
what are they?
Every
heroine has kickassitude. Women in general don’t believe in themselves enough,
and so I love writing strong, inspirational women.
Do
you ever suffer from writer’s block? How do you deal with it?
Heck,
yeah. Especially when starting a new book. I get a bit overwhelmed in the first
few chapters before the characters take over the story. When I’m completely
stuck, I need a break. That could mean reading a book (or two), going for a
walk, or simply getting a good night’s rest. But, really, all a writer has to
do to get past writer’s block is to write.
When
did you consider yourself a writer?
I
considered myself a writer was when I finished Knightfall, my first novel, and started querying agents. Now, with
a few books under my belt, I know I was a writer the moment I made the commitment
to write… basically, when I typed that first line of my first novel.
What
are your guilty pleasures in life?
Port,
dark chocolate, long walks, and hugs… in no particular order.
Other
than writing, what are some of your interests, hobbies or passions in life?
When
I’m not writing—or at my day job as a management consultant—I fly old
airplanes. There’s nothing like watching the sun set from a bird’s eye view.
What
was the last amazing book you read?
The
First Days by Rhiannon Frater made me fall in love with zombies all over again.
It was just the break I needed for my reading rut where I’d felt like I was
reading the same story over and over again.
What
can readers expect next from you?
The
next two books in the Colliding Worlds trilogy. My editor at Crimson Romance is
pushing for them sooner vs. later, so I promise you’ll see them soon!
Where
can readers find you on the web?
You
can get the scoop on all my current and upcoming releases on my website www.BerinnRae.com. I’m also on Facebook and
Twitter and love to connect with readers, writers, and bloggers.
Would
you like to leave readers with a little teaser or excerpt from the book?
In Collision, Sienna
Wolfe knows it’s going to be an interesting day when a man with golden skin and
strange tattoos crashes in her backyard… and ends up tied to her bedposts. She
likes her life just the way it is – simple, easy, relaxed. But when the
gorgeous new alien in her life asks for her help in an inter-galactic war on a
collision course with earth, she can’t say no… but she’ll soon wish she
had.
That’s
the quick blurb, but if you’d like to read the entire first chapter, here you
go!

I loved your comment about women not believing in themselves. I know I suffer from that myself. I would love some inspiration from your characters.
