In a perfect world, authors would choose
the casting of their books if when they are made into movies. If ‘The Traveler’ became a movie, here are
my choices *swoon*:
DEX: Ian Somerhalder
Why, you ask? I say: WHY NOT? How did this
man not land the role of Christian Grey? Ian is dark, brooding and plays a
perfect bad-boy. Now, the only problem is that Dex is very tall, but if you can
recall, Jacob Black in New Moon was well over 6 feet. Taylor Lautner is only 5ft7,
and yet, I didn’t hear anyone complaining. I certainly wasn’t, when he took off
that shirt! *sigh* Throw is a pair of
green contacts, and some built-up shoes, and we have the perfect Dex.
RACHEL: Julianne Hough
Julianne
is a perfect Rachel. She is all-American, gorgeous, and all that dancing keeps
her fit, so she would be able to keep up with Rachel’s running! She has a
vulnerability about her that is endearing, and yet she is a feisty little
thing. I would also love to see the drama unfold during filming, seeing as
Julianne is BFF’s with Ian’s ex, Nina Dobrev. Awkward!
AMAROX: Matt Bomer
I am more than happy to grab yet another
Christian Grey cast-off to play the role of Dex’s bigger, badder older brother.
Matt is tall and mysterious, and fits the bill perfectly for the heir to the
throne of Venon. Lucky, lucky Rachel!
JASON: Jensen Ackles
Jensen could easily pull off the quirky,
cocky ladies’ man that is Jason Masters, “anchorman extraordinaire”. He is far
too good-looking for his own good, but I think that Dex still has Rachel’s vote
in the “hottie” department. Jason will have to keep trying to charm the sullen,
sexy Voka.
VOKA: Jessica Lowndes
Best known for her role in 90210, I
couldn’t think of anyone better to play Voka, Dex’s angry, sullen sister.
Although she has a good heart, Voka is a “mean girl.” I think this picture
speaks for itself.
DARREN: Chase Crawford
Oh, Chase! Young, good-looking, the world
at your feet… Please be my Darren! As we know, Darren forms a relationship with
Kate during The Traveler, and I think that Chase and Emmy would make the cutest
couple!
KATE: Emmy Rossum
Emmy has a sweet, innocent vibe that suits
“scaredy-Kate” perfectly. Kate’s character develops throughout the book, and
she certainly comes out of her shell, but she is always the timid girl that
brings out the protective instincts of all the other characters. Who wouldn’t
want to protect Emmy – just look at that face!
So, that is my dream cast for The Traveler.
What do you think? I’d love to hear your ideas!
Much Love

She graduated from the University of South Africa with a Bachelors Degree in English in 2000. She currently lives with her husband and three children in Hillcrest, South Africa.
Her first novel, The Legacy, published in 2013, is the first in The Legacy Series trilogy, and is followed by the sequel The Legion. The final book, The Legend is due out in 2014. She has also written an independent novel entitled Rainfall, a psychological romance, and a science-fiction, action-adventure called The Traveler.
An avid reader herself, Melissa finally decided to stop “watching from the sidelines” and to do what is her passion.
“I was driving home from work when inspiration struck, and a storyline started unravelling in my head. For a few days, it was all I could think about and eventually I realised that the only way to get it out of my head, was to put it all down on paper. I started writing, and that was that.”
