The Story Behind the Story-Son of Dragons by Andrea Cooper

The Story Behind the Story

In order for me to explain the story behind the story of Son of Dragons Book 2 Legends of Oblivion, I must go back to the beginning and Book 1 briefly.

The Garnet Dagger was the first fantasy/ paranormal romance novel I wrote. Previously, I wrote historical romance.

I had finished watching Underworld in the movie theaters and loved it. I enjoyed the first person narrative and the (*spoiler alert) *werewolf/vampire hybrid.

I thought if a vampire can bite a werewolf and create something different, what if a vampire were to bite an Elvin? A creature of light and magic? How would that change the craving of blood and other dark gifts?

After I finished The Garnet Dagger, I realized there was much more story to write.
Then, Son of Dragons freed me to explore this world in more depth and detail. And more characters came forward to be included in this series.

Son of Dragons went through many revisions and rewrites before Mirhana and Landon’s journey to love could be fulfilled.

Mirhana had closed her heart due to human friends and lovers lost by death and disease. Landon, trapped in a palace, longed to be free of his constraints and make a name for himself besides Prince.

I wrote Son of Dragons in a relatively short time. The story flowed easily; and even today, this story sweeps me into its world every time I read it.

I have always loved dragons and never thought of them in the typical ‘western’ world sense as being evil. I think of them being good or bad based on their actions.

This is the first shifter story I have written. However, I enjoyed the characters and world so much; I will write more shifter novels.

The Garnet Dagger, my first fantasy/paranormal romance, was motivated by the movie Underworld. The characters, world, and story of The Garnet Dagger freed my inspiration to write Son of Dragons.

I could not have written Son of Dragons, without first creating The Garnet Dagger Book 1 in this series. However, as a reader, I created Son of Dragons to be a standalone novel as well. So it is not essential to read Book 1 or 1.5, but I think the world I created is richer with all the stories.

Book Description:

In a time of false peace, the dead rise as soldiers for the Warloc’s scheme. For thousands of years he has stood ready for the final battle. Though the witch and her cursed Elvin have destroyed his physical body, now with his protégé, he has honed a new way to wage war.

Shunned by her own people and weary-hearted from centuries of lost loves, Elvin warrior Mirhana scours the land to silence the undead. Her heart has turned as cold as the sword she wields, until a prince seeks her aid.

Never has Prince Landon met a woman like Mirhana. Both beautiful and deadly, she haunts his dreams. The battle at hand becomes more enchanting than fighting to remain true to his unseen betrothed.

When a traitor emerges, new alliances are tested and the only remaining hope is to follow the prophecy and find the ... Son of Dragons.

About the Author:

Growing up in Houston, Texas, Andrea has always created characters and stories. But it wasn't until she was in her late twenties that she started writing novels.

What happened that ignited the writing flame in her fingers? Divorced, and disillusioned by love songs and stories. They exaggerate. She thought. Love and Romance are not like that in the real world. Then she met her husband and realized, yes love and romance are exactly like the songs and stories say. She is now a happy wife, and a mom to three kids (two boys and a girl).

Andrea writes paranormal and historical romance. When not writing or reading, one may find Andrea dancing in Zumba.

She believes in the power of change and counting each moment as a blessing. But most importantly, she believes in love.

D'Ann,

I need to invest in a speed reading course. I think that's the only way I'll chip away at my TBR pile.

Thank you for coming by.

I tweeted. I love this book cover, which makes me want to read it first, but then it is normally true that reading in sequence gives you a deeper connection.5345
