It’s not surprising
that my writing finally ventured into post-apocalyptic genre. Some of my
favorite movies have always been about that.
My top ten favorite post-apocalyptic movies
The Postman (1997)
After all the
hundreds and hundreds of movies I’ve watched in my life, this one has always
stuck with me. I’m not sure if it’s
because of Kevin’s acting throughout it or if somewhere in the back of my mind
I can see this happening.
Waterworld (1995)
This movie felt like
I was watching Mad Max, only it was on water instead of land. Kudos to the
writers for taking us to new places.
I am legend (2007)
I loved the Will’s
acting in this one and being a huge fan of The Walking Dead (the comics in 2003
before it became a cool show) it’s just a given that I would like this movie.
Red Dawn (1984 & 2012)
When I watched the
original I was a teen and can’t say I was overly concerned about the premise of
the movie – look at the actors in it and how young and good looking they were…
I don’t usually enjoy
remakes of movies, but I did like the 2012 version of this one. I’m all about the unsuspecting underdog
whooping butt, so this one old or new will always be a favorite of mine.
Reign of Fire (2002)
Matthew McConaughey, Gerard
Butler, Christian Bale and dragons — I’m there!
City of Ember (2008)
I originally watched
this because my kids wanted me to and was surprised how much I liked it. It was
different than all the other movies of this genre and well, I want to ride on
the boat/locker…
Mad max (1979)
I wasn’t allowed to
watch this when it came out, my parents thought it was inappropriate for my
age. By the time I did get to see it I
was a teen and watched the sequels as well.
So much chaos. It scared me, because I thought for if an apocalypse
happened this is what it would be like.
Ultaviolet (2006)
Who doesn’t like a
movie where a woman kicks ass?
War of the worlds (2005)
I think I prefer
zombies to aliens, but I still liked this movie. I kind of a fan of chaos…
2012 (2009)
All I could think
through this whole movie was “you abuse it- you lose it” … that I need to learn
how to fly a plane, maybe a hot air balloon…

About the Author:
Jacqueline Paige lives in Ontario in a small town that’s part of the popular Georgian Triangle area. No one has ever heard of Stayner, so she usually tells people she lives “near Collingwood” and no, she doesn’t ski at Blue Mountain or at all, in fact she’s not even fond of snow.
She began her writing career in 2006 and since her first published works in 2009 she hasn’t stopped. Jacqueline describes her writing as “all things paranormal”, which she has proven is her niche with stories of witches, ghosts, physics and shifters now on the shelves.
When Jacqueline isn’t working at her ‘reality job’ or lost in her writing she spends time with her five children, most of whom are finally able to look after her instead of the other way around. Together they do random road trips, that usually end up with them lost, shopping trips where they push every button in the toy aisle, hiking when there’s enough time to escape and bizarre things like creating new daring recipes in the kitchen. She’s a grandmother to four (so far) and looks forward to corrupting many more in the years to come.
