An Interview With Baya of Pathins
Lynne: “With me here today is a very special guest. Please help me welcome Baya of Pathins!”
Enthusiastic Applause
Lynne: “Baya is from a distant planet that is quite … young … or how do we say, new —”
Baya: “It’s okay you can say it, you earthlings think that we’re primitive.”
Lynne tries, unsuccessfully, to look sympathetic. Unfortunately, the gesture comes out condescending.
Lynne: “My dear girl, you have been through so much already. What sort of trials do you see coming in this next book, A Collision of Worlds, and are you prepared for them?”
Baya: “Yes. I have been through a lot and who’s fault is that?
Awkward silence. Lynne suddenly finds something interesting on her phone.
Baya: “However, I have the power of the Ox now, which makes me the strongest woman in the world. And I’ve learned a lot over these past couple of years so I feel very prepared for whatever awaits.”
Lynne: “And you’re sure about this…being the most powerful woman?”
Baya: “Why? I’m I not? Is there something you’re not telling me?”
Lynne: “Nope. Nope. I’m sure everything will be fine.”
Baya glares at Lynne.
Lynne clears her throat: “Anyway, what are your dreams for the future?”
Baya’s colorful eyes sparkle. “Oh I have lots of plans! I want to help the people of Pathins — to get them off that overcrowded island. Of course, part of the reason I want to return to my home is to see my family. I’m really worried about my brother. The only other thing I want is to find a nice home with a big garden where Vicaroy and I can raise our children … in peace.”
Lynne: “That sounds lovely but aren’t’ you forgetting something?”
Baya furrows her brow. “And, of course, I want to get men their powers back. I mean, that goes without saying, right?”
Lynne: “Right. For our last question, What motivates you? What we really want to know is what do you love the most and fear the most?”
Baya shakes her head. “Oh no you don’t. You won’t trick me into giving away anything. You’ll only use that information against me.”
Lynne’s hand flies to her chest. “I would never do such a horrible thing!”
Baya crosses her arms and narrows her eyes.
Lynne: “Okay folks. There you have it. If you want to know more about Baya then her adventures can be found in the Woman’s World series. Thank you Baya for joining us.”
Baya: “I would say the pleasure is all mine but…”
