Interview with an aristocrat vampire - Antoine from Seduce by Felicity Heaton

Interview with an aristocrat vampire - Antoine from Seduce by Felicity Heaton

It’s great to be here today at Fangtastic Books as part of my Vampirerotique Winter Tour celebrating the series and my latest release, Bewitch.

Today, I’ll be talking to the hero of the third book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series, the very old and powerful, and cold yet damned hot Antoine.

Antoine is the younger of the two aristocrat brothers at Vampirerotique at just over one thousand years old and is a man of mystery in most of the staff and performers’ eyes. He’s a dark vampire with secrets locked deep in his heart. A man who has come close to losing his brother to bloodlust more than once and who keeps moving forwards despite knowing that same bloodlust runs in his veins, waiting for the day it will rule him, he keeps his distance from everyone and keeps to himself. He focuses on running Vampirerotique and working towards freeing Snow from his bloodlust. He has shut down his emotions, leaving only his brother in his heart, but all that changes when a young female vampire comes to the theatre determined to crack the barriers around his heart.

Read on to find out more about Antoine from the vampire himself.

FH: I have Antoine here with me today to talk about his book, Seduce. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?

ANTOINE: I am an aristocrat vampire from a long line of purebloods, and the younger brother of Snow. I have walked this world for over one thousand years and was raised by my mother and my brother at our family home in Switzerland. My father was often busy with his businesses and society, so I did not see much of him when I was growing up. Around a century ago, I was approached by two elite vampires, Javier and Callum, about their idea of opening an erotic theatre catering exclusively to vampires. It seemed like a good business opportunity, and provided my brother with a stable environment where I could provide for him and see to his care.

FH: Your brother, Snow, means a lot to you, doesn’t he?

ANTOINE: Snow is very dear to me and I love him with all of my heart. He is my brother. He was more than a brother to me when we were younger too. I often spent a large amount of time alone because our parents were so busy with social affairs and business, and Snow was fully grown long before I was born. He would travel and whenever he returned, I would hound him until he had divulged every tale related to things he had seen, people he had met, and places he had visited. He was the source of my knowledge of the world beyond the walls of our mansion and the snowy forbidding mountains.

FH: I like that you are so close to your brother, but your closeness to him can often lead to you becoming distant from all others. In Seduce, you meet Sera. How did you meet and how did you feel about her initially?

ANTOINE: Sera challenged me from the very beginning. She put my self-control to the test and it was dangerous. There is a reason it is safer for me not to feel and not to become attached to anyone beyond my brother. I tread the same dark path as he does, one shadowed by bloodlust and the danger that comes with it. I wanted nothing to do with Sera, even as I secretly cried out for her. I had to deny my needs and desires, and I tried so hard to do just that, but she is relentless and in the end, my goddess of victory won her battle.

FH: Your relationship with Sera is complicated because of events in your past and potentially in your future. It must have taken a lot for you to allow her into your heart.

ANTOINE: It did. As much as Sera challenged me, I challenged her. I could not make it easy for her to claim my affection and she knew that, compromising at every turn to ensure she remained with me long enough to slowly work her way beyond my defences and shatter my self-control. I do not think she was prepared for all that came after.

FH: Can you tell us about what happened in your story?

ANTOINE: I had avoided love for many centuries, and avoided pleasures of the flesh along with it. My focus had been on my brother for so long and I had closed myself off to emotions. I did not want to feel. Sera wanted me, and she, *he smiles* well, she refused to give up on me. She did everything in her power to convince me that I could be with her, without fear and reservation, and that I did not have to be alone.

FH: I personally think it’s about time that you found someone who could love you for who you are, and could help heal the pain you hold in your heart. How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?

ANTOINE: Blissful. Infuriating. Sera can be as irritating as she can be delightful. She tests me every day, pushes me to my limit at times, and never backs down. Such a young vampire should not attempt dominance over one my age and of my breeding. She even taunts and teases Snow, although I think my brother secretly enjoys her treatment of him. He let slip once that it makes him feel normal and accepted that Sera refuses to obey him in any way and will sit with him and talk nonsense about daily life outside the theatre. She is a joy to be with though. A light I never thought I would have in my life.

FH: I’m glad to hear that you’ve finally met your match and have someone to share your life with, besides your brother. Your story, Seduce, is a book in a series. Can you tell us a little about the series and can we expect see more of you in other stories in this series?

ANTOINE: I believe I have been in every story so far and will feature in every story to come. As the general manager of Vampirerotique, and because of my brother, I never leave the theatre. I am there every night, whether it’s overseeing the performances or attending business matters. Many changes have taken place in the past year. Changes that will no doubt affect Vampirerotique for years to come so the place will never be the same. It is no longer the business of bachelors. I find it difficult to believe considering how intent some of the males were on remaining single.

FH: A little like you were?

ANTOINE: *smiles again* Yes. I had no intention of falling in love because I thought it would take too much of my time and attention away from Snow, and he needed me... it turns out that seeing me with Sera has been good for Snow and has eased his burden.

FH: Are you hopeful that your brother can find love as you have?

ANTOINE: I will admit that I am. I think that it could soothe his bloodlust and help him control it. Sera has shown me that I can control my darker urges and can have a relationship with someone. I wish the same for Snow.

FH: Spoken like a true loving brother. I’ll end on something silly that I ask everyone I interview. Describe yourself in one word?

ANTOINE: Hopeful.

FH: That choice certainly makes sense these days and I too hope that your future and Snow’s future will be less bleak now and far brighter soon. Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?

ANTOINE: Only that if you intend to interview my brother, please take any necessary precautions. While he does have a soft spot for you and often refers to you as his writer female, he cannot control himself when his bloodlust strikes. I would not want you to be hurt.

FH: Aw, thank you. I’ll make sure that I take care when I interview him. Thank you for being here today and being so open and honest. Sera really has been fantastic for you.

I hope you have all enjoyed this insight into Seduce and life at Vampirerotique through the eyes of one of the sinfully sexy heroes!

Bloodlust runs in his veins, a dark master waiting for the day it will reign over him. Now a woman with a pure soul and wicked intentions has him in her sights and is determined to crack the ice around his heart, and she might save or damn him.

Antoine stands apart from the world around him, a dangerous and broken soul who must maintain rigid control at all times or risk his dark addiction finally seizing hold of him. The shadows of his past haunt him and he sees his bleak future each night when his brother wakes screaming, his blood addiction turning him savage. He cannot allow himself to feel, but when Sera walks into Vampirerotique, the erotic theatre he runs with three other vampires, to audition, she awakens dangerous desires in him—hungers that could spell the end of both of them.

Sera has wanted Antoine since the night she first saw the gorgeous aristocrat vampire. She can’t ignore the deep carnal hunger he stirs in her or the ache to know the heat of his touch. With the help of her sire, an ex-performer at Vampirerotique, she sets in motion a game of seduction, one designed to thaw the ice in Antoine’s veins and make him burn for her.

When Sera discovers the shocking truth about his past and the darkness that lurks within him, will she be strong enough to seize his heart with both hands and win him forever or will she lose him to the ghosts that still haunt him?

Hi Everyone! As an author, I’m always getting questions about my characters. What they are like, who they are, how they act, etc. So I thought it might be fun if I conducted a series of interviews with the main and primary supporting characters from my recent release, Hunting Human. If you’ve already read the book, hopefully these interviews will be fun and interesting. If you haven’t read the book yet, hopefully the interviews will pique your interest.

My first interview was with my heroine, Beth Williams, and can be found HERE.

My second interview is with my hero, Braden Edwards.

I’ve kept the questions the same so as to give a parallel look into the characters thoughts and backgrounds.

Q: Hi Braden! Please describe yourself in a few words.

A: Solid, loyal and normal.

Q: What is one of your happiest moments?

A: Labor Day, the year I shifted for the first time. Most of the summer had been really uncomfortable, we were adjusting to Chase and he was adjusting to us. But that Labor Day was the best. My dad had been grilling all afternoon, steaks the size of your head. Caleb and I kept arguing about who got the bigger one and right as my mom served them up, Chase snatched the largest one up. We got to shoving, then shifting and finally chasing. Mom turned the hose on all of us. But it was the first time Chase had ever initiated anything with us. It was a turning point and a good day.

Q: What has been the defining moment/decision in your life to date?

A: The decision to go away to college. I’d always planned to attend of course, and like most kids, I couldn’t wait for that taste of freedom. A lot of that changed when Chase came to live with us. It took us a long time, but Caleb, Chase and I got really close. And as the decision to go away to college got closer and closer, I started to have second thoughts. It would be the first time I’d be alone on the full moons. The first time I wouldn’t be able to goof around with my brothers. But I did, eventually, decide to go. And that was good too – it allowed my brothers to grow up and allowed us to redefine our relationship some.

Q: Can you tell us a few of your strengths and a few of your weaknesses?

A: I value my family. I’m the oldest of four kids and my parents really pushed the idea that we’re a unit. That we succeed and fail together. We’re all really close and we all work to stay that way. But having said that, my parents also raised me to be independent, so as I mentioned before, I’m not afraid to make my own decisions and walk my own path. I think that’s a strength. As to weaknesses… I have to admit I’ve got a bit of a temper. And I sometimes – okay, more than sometimes – jump to conclusions. Trust is really important to me so if I feel that my trust has been broken, I can snap before I assess. I’m working on it.

I know that you’re a werewolf, how about a few questions about that part of your life?

Q: How old were you became a werewolf?

A: Typically in my family the bite is passed down on our sixteenth birthday. But when Chase came to stay with us my father gave me the option of turning a year early. I learned to manage the shift in the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school.

Q: When you shifted for the first time, what went through your head?

A: I honestly don’t remember it was so long ago. I think for me, it was like the first time your dad tosses you the car keys. You remember the yearning to drive – or in my case shift – and you vaguely remember the excitement. But I don’t remember much beyond that.

Q: What is the best thing about being a werewolf?

A: The extra senses are amazing. Food tastes better, mountain air smells cleaner. Fart wars with your brothers are a lot more fun. Sorry, Mom. And we do tend to be more athletic. Our metabolisms run higher and exercise comes more naturally. I do tend to get really restless if I don’t hit the gym regularly but I think a lot of people feel like that regardless. It’s such a normal part of my everyday life; it’s hard to give you a best thing.

Q: What is the worst thing about being a werewolf?

A: I was raised with it, so it never really bothered me. It’s normal. So normal in fact that sometimes I forget that it’s not just another muscle, another skill. I forget that most people can’t relate. That part’s hard. Most people have secrets, and I think everyone wonders what would happen if people found out. But for us, it’s just different. Dating for instance is complicated. At what point in a relationship is appropriate to tell someone you occasionally shift into a wolf? You constantly have to balance being realistic with acknowledging that you may freak someone out bad enough that they’ll run and never look back.

How about a couple of quick, fun questions to get us back on a lighter note?

Q: What is your favorite color and why?

A: Green. I spent a lot of time in the woods as a teen, goofing around with my brothers and my father. When we hunt, and I’m running full out, the surrounding forest starts to blur into this one, deep patch of green. The color always manages to make me feel relaxed and energetic at the same time.

Q: Favorite food?

A: Red meat is always on the menu in my house. Steaks on the grill, cold beer and the game on the tube… perfect afternoon.

Q: Movies or theater?

A: Movies. I really can’t sit still long enough to enjoy the theater.

About the Author:

Amanda was born and raised in Texas - and due to an unfortunate three year stint in Michigan - doesn't plan to ever live anywhere where flip-flops and sweatshirts don't constitute winter attire. Often audacious and adventurous, she tends to find herself in a slew of dangerous (and hilarious!) predicaments (law school and fighting raccoons in dumpsters) and thankfully has many friends ready to lend aid (while they laugh.)

When not lawyering, writing, or thinking about going to the gym Amanda is often caught sampling local cupcake offerings and planning to someday co-open an evil bakery and sell dastardly desserts. She currently lives in Dallas, Texas with one regular-sized cat and one jumbo-sized cat, and can be seen writing in public places frequented by hot guys (strictly for research purposes, of course!) with her friends and fellow writers Killer Cupcake and Pantherista(names omitted to protect the not-so-innocent).
