A Peek into the Writing World of Dawné Dominique

Win an eBook copy of Eden’s Hell
Roxanne, thank you so much for having me at Fang-tastic Books.
My name is Dawné Dominique, and I’m an erotic, paranormal, fantasy author, a managing editor for two publishers, and a cover artist for several more. Let’s just say I juggle these careers rather precariously. My mind is still intact (I think) so that’s something. : )
Roxanne has invited me to talk about my newest paranormal release, Eden’s Hell, which is book one to a five part series called The First. Although Diary of Daniella Rolfe had initiated the series a little over four years ago, that all changed when I began writing Eden’s Hell.
In creating this series, one facet remained constant; my characters needed to be different. Vampiric in nature, yes, but with unique traits. Any author will agree that in order to make your characters believable, readers must be able to relate to them. Herein was the challenge: to create a race of vampires that come from different generations, down different bloodlines, yet somehow intertwine with several intriguing subplots and one major plot. Not an easy task, but I do love a challenge.
Eden’s Hell is my account of how and why vampires came into existence. The story begins in 1988, in California, and introduces Addison Eden, Satrina Vacher, and an innocent woman, Eva Carr. There is certainly no love lost between Addison and Satrina, and as ex-spouses, they put a whole new twist on ugly divorces that do last for all eternity.
I based the story on the biblical version of Adam and Lillith, (his first wife). Unwillingly dragged into the middle of them, Eva Carr turns not only Addison and Satrina’s world upside down, but she sets the entire Vampire Creed in an uproar, and one that may have dire consequences in the future.
The ending, I’m told, has rendered a few readers to tears, but I promise it doesn’t end on an unhappy note.
Eden’s Hell will be followed by Dark Diary (to be rereleased July 2010), then Kindred Blood and Crimson Crises. These three novels introduce a new set of characters, as well as a prince of the vilkacis race (werewolf). The final novel, Nightstalker, introduces a young Texan vamp by the name of Zane Black, who, believe it or not, is a successful erotic author writing under a woman’s penname.
If you’re looking for a unique vampire tale that includes heartfelt angst, erotic interludes, love lost and found, lust, blood, and adventure, Eden’s Hell is a journey I urge you to take.

Hi Dawne'! I'm so excited about Eden's Hell and wish you HUGE success with this first book in your series. I know you'll have so much fun at your book signing!
*hugs*
This sounds very very interesting. I love vampire books!! I have seen this cover elsewhere, but never knew what is was about. I love the cover, and your account of the contents of the book is definitely a plus. I will put this on my TBR list. Good luck with this book and the series!!
Judy, thank you so much. This tale had been in the works for quite a while. Writing five full length novels was a daunting task, but one I had carefully planned out for many years. I just had to get the sequences correct. Eden's Hell will be coming to print soon, and will be available on Amazon and all the other venues.
I'm so pleased you liked the premise of the novel. I had a lot of fun designing the cover art, especially the print. It's very unique, just like my vamps. *smirks*
Thank you again, Judy. It's such a pleasure to meet new readers and authors.
Live, love and laugh,
Dawné
Ana...! *huge hugs* Thanks so much for dropping by. Now, where I would be without you by my side? Your encouragement and friendship means the world to me.
Love and more hugs,
Dawné
That's too easy. The forbidden fruit was the apple.
Dawne, you're doing some great world building in your series.
Hi, Sandy. Thanks for stopping by. ((hugs)) Actually, it's not as easy as you may think. *smirks* One of the issues that I go into in Eden's Hell is the writing and rewriting of the bibles of the world. A lot of facts have been misconstrued and lost throughout time. So far, out of the many replies I've received, there's been only one correct answer, and unless you read Eden's Hell, I don't think many people are going to get it. But I will enter everyone who stops by and/or sends me a message.
As for world building...let's see. We start out in California in 1988, then venture to the City of Kirkland, then we drop by England, off to Scotland to a derelict castle, then to Spain...ohh, wait, then we're in New York. Man, I wish could live inside my books. LMAO!
Again, thank you, Sandy. ((more hugs))
Live, love and laugh,
Dawné
I have recently discovered you and look forward in reading Eden's Hell.
Thanks,
Tracey
Hi, Tracey. Ohhh, I LOVE being discovered. And hey, I also discovered a new friend. {{{hugs and smiles}}} It's an absolute pleasure to meet you. I have your name entered into the draw. *crosses fingers*
Thank you so much for dropping by, Tracey.

Sounds like a good series and I cannot wait to read them all! Paranormal books have always been my favorites, especially those about vampires. Looking forward to buying and reading them.
Hi Dawne!
Your book sounds good. I really like vampire stories.
Looking forward to read this :)

Loves2Read...you're in Italy? Oh, the stories that can come to fruition from such a location. How cooooool is that! Going to school aboard. I used to dream about doing that, but alas, real life wouldn't allow me.
Thank you so much for dropping by and commenting. I'm so pleased that you love paranormal. It's one of my most favorite genres, too.
Here's hoping we meet again.
Love and hugs,
Dawné
Hi, Mariksa. I just adore your name. About twelve years ago, my girlfriend named her little girl "Marquesa" (Mar-ke-sa), and I've always loved the ring of it. Yours is very similar. : )
Thank you so much for commenting. And hey, who doesn't like a tall, dark, sexy vamp to take to bed every night. (I mean a book). *snickers* Okay, either way works for me, too.
Take care, and I hope you enjoy The First series.
Live, love and laugh,
Dawné
I enjoyed your post and will definitely be reading this, starting with the first, Thank you.

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to you Dawne'!
(That is such a hot cover, BTW!!)
Maybe I messed up; I emailed you with the answer, but I'll try again. Apple is the only thing I can think of.
This series sounds incredible. I've discovered so many "new" books through this website and can't wait to add to my collection!
Hi, Bloodtouch. Sorry for missing you. This week and weekend has been nuts. And thank you so much for dropping by and for the congrats. As for the cover, would you believe there's a couple of more of them? *snickers* It's a long story, but suffice it to say that my publisher and I decided on this one for eBook and a different one for the print.
It's such a pleasure to meet you.
Dawné
Hi, Rita. Yes, I did receive your email with respect to your answer. Thank you. I thought I did repy to you, but if I hadn't, I do apologize.
And I love Fang-tastic Books, too. I'm so happy to have met you.

ANSWER to Dawné Dominique's contest question:
When Eve tempted Adam to eat from the forbidden tree, what fruit was it?
It was not an apple. It was a fig. Or so they say. Apple, fig...does it really matter? *grins*
Thank you everyone for entering and visiting Fang-tastic Books. Hope to see you all very soon.
