Question: In your story it revolves around a Halloween party. Why do you think that Halloween has become so appealing to adults? What is it that makes adults feel like dressing up in costume and be something they are not?
Answer: I’ve always loved Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday of the year. I get a kick out of playing around in the costume shops picking out things, not just for my daughter, but for me as well! I’m thinking pirate this year.

When we were kids, we loved to play dress up, we enjoyed make-believe time, and we allowed ourselves to step out of the real world. We were happier then.
Now that we are adults, bogged down with life and responsibility, we don’t have time for silly things like playing dress-up. We’ve lost some of that youth and spirit.
And that, to me is what makes Halloween so special. For kids, it’s all about the candy. They play dress-up every day. But for us, adults, Halloween is the one holiday of the year where it is almost expected of you to play.
Our costumes may have changed. We might don a full-sized chicken suit or something skimpy like that sexy princess Leia outfit (Note to Self, next year!!), but the bottom line is still the same. In dressing up we reconnect with some of our lost youth. We allow ourselves to play like kids again … even if it is just one night a year.
So… what will you be for Halloween this year?

Hi Katie,
I'll be by your website in just a moment; I always like finding new authors to read. And your novel has piqued my interest.
I'm one of those rare birds. Not a single Halloween goes by without my dressing up. Every...single...year I dress up. As a child, a teenager, and now as an adult mom. To answer your question: This year I'll be the queen of hearts from Alice in Wonderland.
Queen of Hearts! What a great costume idea.
I'm the same, I always dress up. I still haven't chosen my costume yet, but I have narrowed down the ideas.
Happy Halloween.
Katie Salidas
