The Evolution of a Series
When I first began writing Sins of the Angels, I had no idea I was writing a series. In fact, as far as I knew (me being the writer and all), the book was going to be (1) a standalone novel, and (2) a paranormal romance. Well, with book 2 in the series now sitting on bookstore shelves, we call all see how that turned out, can’t we? J
I can’t remember the precise moment I knew my standalone novel would have a sequel—or that it wouldn’t have a romance’s requisite HEA. I do know that Seth Benjamin was to blame for both. From the moment he appeared on Alex’s front porch in Sins of the Angels, it took all my writerly might to keep him from hijacking the story—well, that and a promise that if he behaved, I’d let him have his own story. Even then, because I’m more of a pantser than a plotter, I had no idea there would be a third book, let alone a fourth. In fact, it wasn’t until I was about halfway through Sins of the Son that I finally stepped far enough back to see the big picture.
And what a picture it was. Bigger than I had ever imagined taking on, intimidating as hell, and utterly exhilarating. It seemed that all the time I’d been following my conscious story-writing process, my subconscious had been weaving intricate webs of back-stories and sub-plots…enough to write not just one more book, but two.
For the first time ever, I began to plot out an actual story arc, fitting the plots of each book—four in total—into a grander, greater scheme of things. Seth’s story emerged, melded with that of Aramael and the rest of Heaven, and crossed paths with that of Alex; Aramael’s story twisted and turned and became ever more difficult and painful; and Alex’s story went from bad to worse to simply impossible. And over-arching them all, the story of the One and Lucifer: a story of love and betrayal and the consequences of bitterness left unsatisfied.
People often ask me if the series might continue beyond what I currently have planned. My answer is this: As far as I know, the story arc will be complete in four books.
But given my track record so far, I’ve learned to never say never. J

Sins of the Son
Gregori Legacy Book 2
by Linda Poitevin
A detective with a secret…
When homicide detective Alexandra Jarvis sees a photo of Seth Benjamin on a police bulletin, she knows that Heaven’s plan to halt Armageddon has gone terribly wrong. As the only mortal who knows of Seth’s true nature, she’s also the only one who can save him.
An exiled angel turned assassin…
Aramael was a hunter of Fallen Angels until a traitor forced him into earthly exile. Now, with no powers and only a faint memory of Alex, his mortal soulmate, he will stop at nothing to redeem himself—even if it means destroying Seth in the name of the Creator.
A world with little chance of redemption…
As Alex’s need to protect Seth sets her on a collision course with the determined Aramael, the conflict between them may push the world over the edge—and into the very chaos they’re trying to prevent.
About Linda
Linda Poitevin was born and raised in B.C., Canada’s western most province. Growing up in an era when writing was “a nice hobby, dear, but what are you going to do for a living?”, Linda worked at a variety of secretarial jobs before applying to be a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Due to an error in measurement, however, she was turned down when she didn’t meet the height requirement of that time. Undeterred, Linda became a civilian member in the force and was a dispatcher for two and a half years, during which time she met her husband, a police officer.
Following their transfer to Ottawa, Linda went on to become a real estate agent and then a human resources consultant before starting a family. She has been a stay-at-home mom ever since and has homeschooled her youngest daughter for the last nine years. Now that she has realized writing can be more than a nice hobby, she continues to live her dream of being a cop vicariously through her characters.
Linda currently lives near Ottawa with her husband, three daughters, one very large husky/shepherd/Great Dane-cross dog, two cats, three rabbits, and a bearded dragon lizard. When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found in her garden or walking her dog along the river or through the woods.
In addition to her books, Linda also does freelance writing and editing. Information about her services can be found at www.lindapoitevin.ca. Linda is a member of Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America, Quebec Writers’ Federation, Romance Writers of America, RWA Futuristic Fantasy Paranormal Chapter, and Ottawa Romance Writers’ Association.

The Gregori Legacy series sounds so good, but I haven't had a chance to start it yet so I need to get going. I love the covers for both books too, they're a refreshing change from the leather clad vixens that are usually pictured, whether they fit the character or not.

@Sophia -- I'm glad, too! :)
@Barbara -- So glad you like the covers! I really wanted 'real' clothes for Alex. ;)

That's cool that you get to live out your cop fantasy vicariously through your characters. I bet a lot of people could benefit from having an outlet for their dreams like that. Of course, just being a writer is a pretty amazing dream to achieve in and of itself.

@Bethany -- it is indeed amazing...I still need to pinch myself on a regular basis to make sure I'm not ACTUALLY dreaming! :)
