Guest Blog and Giveaway with Michele Hauf

Blurb for HER VAMPIRE HUSBAND:

She may resist his bite, but she can't resist his charms…

Werewolf princess Blu Masterson won't allow her seductive vampire husband to consummate their marriage with his bite, marking her forever. Alone in a secluded estate with her sworn enemy, Blu curses the marriage arranged to bring their rival nations together, especially since Creed Saint-Pierre calls out to her most feral desires.

When Blu uncovers her pack's secret plot to destroy the vampire nation—and Creed—she is forced to confront her growing feelings for her sexy undead husband. Will she choose the only life she's ever known or accept his vampire bite?

Hi everyone! Thanks to Roxanne for inviting me here today. I'm doing a blog tour through April, and at each blog while be chatting about a different aspect of HER VAMPIRE HUSBAND. Check my blog for the dates and places if you want to follow along.

I wrote up a list of the various parts of the story I could blog about, and guess what turned up for this particular guest post? Sex! Hee.

HER VAMPIRE HUSBAND is one of my lustier, more erotic stories (though I would not label it erotica by any means). It seems the more opposite my hero and heroine are, the more they really set off the fireworks behind the bedroom door. I've done vampires before, so knew that their sexual habits were pretty normal. (Well, as normal as amorous biting and bloodletting can get.) I've also done a male werewolf (Severo from MOON KISSED), and knew that when werewolves mate they shift to their man-beast form to have sex. Yeah, that was an interesting scene (see MOON KISSED if you are interested).

But in Her Vampire Husband, Blu, the werewolf is female, and I hadn't quite decided how sex should work for her. I think I spent a few days muddling over it. My hubby asked what I was thinking about. I muttered, "Werewolf sex." (He really should know better than to ask me what I'm pondering. It's always interesting and sometimes a little outrageous.) I really wasn't cool with the idea of the female werewolf shifting to a beastly form and getting all hairy for the big sex scene that brings hero (Creed) and heroine together. But she had to shift because the male werewolves do. How to do that without turning readers off, and the hero?

I decided a partial shift was the way to go. The heroine becomes more, stronger, a little taller, more sensual and animalistic, but no fur (maybe some talons though). It worked for me, and it gave the hero a real challenge when facing this uber strong woman who wanted sex, yet wasn't willing to let him at her without first proving he was capable. Talons slashed. Furniture flew. And I believe the bed broke somewhere around the middle of the scene.

The hero, Creed, was capable, let me tell you.

Though I didn't take it beyond that, in my notes, I know that a female werewolf cannot get pregnant unless she's fully shifted to werewolf form, but Blu and Creed are simply enjoying marriage and loving one another right now. I don't see children in their future. Yet. :-)

I have a set of THE HIGHWAYMAN and MOON KISSED to give away to one commenter.

Let's chat about the sexy scenes! Obviously, reading paranormal, you expect to encounter some different sexy scenes.

What pairing of paranormal creatures, or interesting sensual scenes have you enjoyed most?

A Review of The Highwayman by Michele Hauf

Four Fangs for The Highwayman by Michele Hauf

I've heard nothing but good things about Michele Hauf's books so I had to read one. I'm sure I have probably read others as well, I need to go through my romance gallery you would be amazed at how many authors I stumble across that I read ages ago that I now chat with or adore their new works.

Anyway back to Michele Hauf's The Highwayman. This is the first book of her new Wicked Games series and occurs in the same world as her Bewitching the Dark series.

Max Fitzroy is a lonley man that hasn't eaten, slept or been able to experience complete pleasure in 250 years. That's got to make a man a little cranky. In life he was a thief, a Highwayman. Now that he's immortal he is still The Highwayman but what he seeks now is demons...and the famaliars that bridge them to this world.

He seeks out Aby, the familiar rumored to be the best, the one he thinks can finally rid him of the demon shadow inside him the one that has made the last 250 years hell on earth. His plan is to find her, have sex with her, then kill her. Hah! Instead she entrances him. Everyday he is more fascinated by her that killing her becomes the last thing on his mind.

Can she rid him of the demon so he can live a normal life? Will she be the woman who can finally fulfil his desire? Or will evil forces come between them and make sure they don't have happily ever after?

I really enjoyed this book. Michele has done a great job with her world building. I have to go back and read her other series to get a solid feel for this world because this book did leave a few questions in my mind like: When familiars die and are reborn are they born back to the same body right where they left off just with no memory? If not, what good is the tattoo?

And what is up with Severo and Grim? I really hope to see more of the werewolf (his story is next) the witch, Grim (or was it Grimm), I can do without. There is something sneaky and sinister about that man. I do want to read MOON KISSED which is supposed to be out in September.

The Highwayman is a gripping romance novel full of everything you could want in a paranormal: ruggedly handsome man with a dark past, a sexy woman innocent yet not, werewolves, witches, demons and lots of action to keep the pages turning. Nice.

Check it out, you'll enjoy it. And make sure you check out Michele's other works. Visit www.michelehauf.com

Free Book Friday: The Highwayman by Michele Hauf

Michele Hauf's newest book, The Highwayman, just hit stores this week and to celebrate I am giving away a free copy of The Highwayman to one lucky commenter.

From Michele's website:

In Michele Hauf's WICKED GAMES miniseries, a match between cat and demon takes on a most delicious spin...

Max Fitzroy, the legendary Highwayman, has slain scores of demons with a razor-lined whip and a burning need for revenge. Now, to rid himself of the demon shadow inside him—who has cursed him with immortality and stole all sensual pleasures—Max needs a witch's familiar, the one creature he's made a career of killing.

But the Highwayman isn't prepared for the familiar named Aby. The sleek and sexy conduit to the demon realm sees past his nightmarish shadow as easily as he scales the walls she's erected to protect herself. Max needs Aby to grant him his freedom, and then he needs to slay her. But how can he destroy the only creature he's desired in centuries?
