Free Book Friday Giveaway: Jeweled by Anya Bast
I have a fabulous book to offer for Free Book Friday this week- Jeweled by Anya Bast.
Here's a description of the book:
A new series of erotic magic and fantasy from the New York Times bestselling author.
In the Court of Edaeii, magic-imbued Evangeline is rewarded for her gift in manipulating emotion with a sapphire stone set into the perfect curve of her lower back. Her greatest rival in the royal court is the enigmatic Anatol, instilled with the power of illusion. He may best her in magic, but he is her absolute equal in passion.
They share something else-they're both targets of low-born revolutionaries. Rescued by Gregorio, the brilliant revolutionary mastermind, they're given sanctuary. But in this warm refuge, Evangeline soon finds herself torn between the magic of one man she has always desired, and the excitingly new and radical moves of another. For her, there is only one choice: indulge in pleasure without limits.

Free Book Friday : Sparks by Laura Bickle
If you loved Embers you are really going to enjoy Sparks.
Laura Bickle's Sparks is even better than the first book Embers.
My review will be up tomorrow, be sure to check it out. This book is fabulous.
Here is the book description from the back of the book:
WITHOUT A TRACE
Anya Kalinczyk is the rarest type of psychic medium, a Lantern, who holds down a day job as an arson investigator with the Detroit Fire Department—while working 24/7 to exterminate malicious spirits haunting a city plagued by unemployment and despair. Along with her inseparable salamander familiar, Sparky, Anya has seen, and even survived, all manner of fiery hell—but her newest case sparks suspicions of a bizarre phenomenon that no one but her eccentric team of ghost hunters might believe: spontaneous human combustion.
After fire consumes the home of elderly Jasper Bernard, Anya is stunned to discover his remains—or, more precisely, a lack of them; even the fiercest fires leave some trace of their victims—and she is sure this was no naturally occurring blaze. Soon she’s unearthed a connection to a celebrity psychic who preys on Detroit’s poor, promising miracles for money. But Hope Solomon wants more—she’s collecting spirits, and in a frantic race against time, Anya will face down an evil adversary who threatens her fragile relationship with her lover, her beloved Sparky’s freshly hatched newts, and the wandering souls of the entire city.

A woman abducted. A frantic husband. And no one can prove she exists....
One snowy night, in a suburban parking lot, a man finds the quarry he's been stalking for months. Nor, it seems, does anyone else--not her boss, not her doctor--or they're not saying. Who is Nola Elidad? Somehow, Conroy must find the answer, even if his search for the missing woman leads him into a dark past haunted by cruelty, subterfuge, and murder.

Free Book Friday: Vampireology

For this week's Free Book Friday I have 2 copies of Vampireology to give away!
Vampireology Book Description:
Explore (if you dare) the true history of the Fallen Ones — and follow the fate of a 1920s investigator lured by a beauty with violet eyes.
Long before the term vampire was born, long before Bram Stoker fictionalized this being’s ways, blood-drinking demons were banished to Earth by Michael’s host of Angels, or so the Bible describes. Now this rich, mesmerizing resource, written in 1900, sheds light on what happened hence to the three vampire bloodlines — especially the tortured souls known as the Belial. Interspersed are booklets, flaps, and letters between a young paranormal researcher who discovered the book in the 1920s and an oddly alluring woman who seeks his help.
Among the phenomena explored are:
* vampires’ genealogical origins, attributes, and range
* myths about the making of vampires
* secrets of vampires’ powers and shape-shifting skills
* tips for spotting vampires, protecting oneself, and fighting back
* case studies of famous vampires — and vampire hunters — through history
* a shocking overview of vampires "living" among us
I've had the chance to check this book out and it is awesome. If you've never had the chance to see one of the ology books you are missing out. Made like a scrapbook with notes, letters, and all kinds of things that fold out, open up and are added to the pages - it is a a treasure trove of vampire info that contains a storyline.

Free Book Friday: A Signed Copy of The Calling by Paul M Strickler
I have something a little different for you today- a horror novel by a fellow Michigan author I came across at the Genesee Valley Mall while Christmas shopping, Paul M Strickler.
I didn't get the chance to talk to him during my own nightmare of Christmas shopping at the mall but I did grab his card and contact him later about offering a book for Free Book Friday which he so graciously did, a signed copy, too.
The Calling sounds like a scary read, set right here in my state- Michigan. Which makes it a must read for me.
Here's some info about the book-Back-Cover Synopsis
The Sarasin family's move to northern Michigan is meant as a getaway from the stressful big-city life of suburban Detroit. Instead, they find themselves engaged in an epic struggle . . . with a demon, their new house's sinister past and with themselves.
From a mysterious stranger who stalks them, to a hotel clerk who describes their house's former owner as "a doctor not of the living . . . but of the dying," from sounds of digging and voices under their house to an enormous "stone circle" used for Satan worship in the forest behind them, from the discovery of journals describing demon calling to a sheriff who's "one of them," the Sarasins are plunged into a seemingly unstoppable descent as pawns in a game where the future of the world depends upon their ability to stop the creation of an immense "gate"--a portal between the world of the living and that of the revengeful dead.

Free Book Friday the Thirteenth Giveaway: Lenore Noogies

But I have to admit, the graphics in this sucked me into the story. Plus there's not a lot of dialogue to keep me bouncing around, the graphics tell the story all on their own and it's great. A little twisted but fun for those of us who are a little twisted and off the line by a few inches...or a couple miles. :-)
Here's the book blurb:
Take a trip into the dark, surreal world of a little dead girl with a knack for (often) unintentional mayhem in this remastered, gothic classic, newly-coloured and presented in glorious hardcover!
Lenore might only be small, but her talent for mischief — and occasional wanton destruction — is anything but. Featuring stories about limbless cannibals, clock monsters, cursed vampire dolls, taxidermied friends, an obsessed would-be lover and more fuzzy animal mutilations than should be legal, never has the term ‘something for everyone’ seemed more sinister and bizarre.
A massive cult hit on both sides of the Atlantic, Lenore is one of the funniest, darkest, cutest, creepiest characters on the marketplace today.
So you want a copy of Lenore Noogies?
You can be one of three winners to get your hands on this
creepy cool graphic novel.

Free Book Friday Vampire Taxonomy by Meredith Woerner

This wry, witty, fully illustrated, and bloody essential guide. Vampires are all around-books, movies, TV, comics- infiltrating our culture like never before. But what happens if one should run into a real vamp on the street?
Vampire Taxonomy is the best defense against a fatal encounter in the dark.
For the reader's protection, Meredith Woerner reveals the truth about:
•Sunlight sensitivity-Do vamps venture out in the day or stick solely to the evening hours?
•Physiology-When ready to feed, do they change appearance or simply lure with the seductive flash of a fang?
•Dress-Are they decked out in leather with aspirations of becoming the first vampire rock stars or do they cling to Gothic robes and ruffled collars?
•Diet-Are they waging a never-ending struggle against the temptation of human blood or do they view the world as their personal blood buffet?
Author Meredith Woerner started her search for vampires while pulling night shifts as a "copy kid" at the New York Post. Combining her supernatural know-how with a pulp pop awareness, she now writes daily about all the things that go bump in the night at Gawker's sci-fi blog, io9.com.
