Monday Musings April 12, 2010

I have some new stories appearing in each of the above upcoming anthologies.

Release dates are currently unknown though Like That Spark will probably be out pretty soon. My story "A Last Goodbye" will be published in the Like That Spark antho published by Circlet Press. This will be an ebook of erotic paranormal stories.

My story "Blood, Lust and Shadows" (title could possibly be different) will appear in the anthology Erotic Dreamspell which will be available in print through L&L Dreamspell. This is also an erotic paranormal collection.

My ebook A Halloween to Remember (yes another erotic paranormal story :-) will be available through eXcessica Publishing in September.

My story "Cemetery Seduction" is scheduled to appear in a Midnight Showcase digest in May titled Dark Tales but I don't have a cover image or any other info on that yet.

Onto other stuff, how was every one's weekend?

I caught up on shows like Vampire Diaries and Bones and watched a few movies Sherlock Holmes (the new one, liked it) and Where the Wild Things Are (sadly not impressed).

I also worked in my garden (woo hoo! my herbs are already growing like crazy) and did my mom's taxes (she always waits until the last minute).

I also had some wonderful quiet time alone in my house with no one here but my cats (who scared the crap out of me at one point with a strange sneezing fit). But I did manage to make some headway on one of my novels. I swear eventually one of them will get done. LOL.

I am over halfway there on one and now I am sure of where I want it to go. I was stumbling over the direction I wanted to take it because one of the characters decided to become a major player when I had only planned on him being a minor guy- he decided he was going to be a contender for the heroines heart. And much to my surprise he's doing a great job of it. But that stumped me for awhile. Now I am back on track.

So this week at Fang-tastic Books we have a couple authors dropping in for interviews and guest blogs - Jessica Lee, poet E.J. Stevens, Lydia Dare, and Lilly Caine will all be here this week.

Don't forget several contests are still open until midnight tonight make sure to sign up to win the books from Michele Hauf and Laura Bickles and for a chance to win a copy of Vampireology.

Monday Musings November 16, 2009

Monday again. Wow the time is just flying by.

I worked all weekend...and cleaned though you can't tell. My family is a tornado-I clean and they destroy in seconds. The life of a mom...

Anyway at least I got a little bit done on my novel this weekend, worked on a few shorts and tried to catch up on reviews and assignments. Arg. Not enough time or energy to get everything done.

This week is going to be another busy one. I have lots of errands to run, things to do- holidays coming up...and my oldest's 18th birthday. Sniff.

His birthday is the day before Thanksgiving so I really have my hands full, plus I am depressed my "baby" will soon be leaving me. He'll graduate in the spring and then he's off- we're just not sure where yet. He keeps changing his mind, now wants to go where his girlfriend is going. Hmm. Perhaps not such a great idea. Especially since it's still here in Flint.

I want to shove him out of the nest to go experience the world (or at least another city).

Of course it breaks my heart to let my boy go but that's a mother's job is to send their babies out into the world, hopefully prepared enough to survive on their own. Doesn't mean I have to be happy about it though.

Anyway this week I'll be preparing for my son's birthday and Thanksgiving and I'll be working so I may not be around much.

Speaking of time, I need a new ebook reviewer. The two I had are focusing on other things right now including their own sites (Chris) and the upcoming holidays.

So I need a couple ebooks reviewers to write reviews. The perk? You get free ebooks.

I am so swamped with scheduling guest posts, promo days, contests and trying to keep up with print reviews (not to mention my own writing) I don't have time to do many ebook reviews. Plus once I am done on the computer I want to curl up with a book in the evening, not another computer or electronic device.

So if you would like to review ebooks for me please send me your name, email and some samples of previous reviews (this can be links). Also let me know what types of books you are willing to review paranormal, urban fantasy, erotica, erotic romance, straight M/F, M/M, F/F, etc. I get requests for everything so please let me know what you would like to review. I already have a few books waiting. Send your info to eroticroxanne @ yahoo. com

Have you got a copy of Eternal Desire yet? If not head over to Nicole Hadaway's blog for a chance to win a pdf download http://nicole-hadaway.blogspot.com/2009/11/free-book-friday-better-late-than-never.html

I am still scheduling authors and books for my holiday events as well- I think the 25 Naughty Days of Christmas at Roxanne's Realm is going to be good...and bad as in very, very naughty.

Speaking of Naughty Christmas, my story "Candy Cane Thrills" is in the now available Seriously Sexy Stocking Filler released by Xcite Books. They saved the best for last, because my story is the last in the book. ;-)

BTW, I also need more holiday paranormal books and authors for the 25 Days Paranormal Days of Christmas-interviews, guest posts, giveaways, goodies and more are wanted.

One last thing then I am done blathering for the day, please drop by and check out the kiss scenes for the Under the Mistletoe Contest. Mine is Jack Frost Nibbling at My Lips.

Monday Musings for October 12

So I had a pretty good weekend, went on a hayride and picked huge pumpkins with the family. That was fun. We didn't do the haunted houses or spooky stuff since we had the little ones with us. But we had a lot of fun, even if we did get a little muddy.

I also caught up on my shows on the DVR- Vampire Diaries, wow how many people is Damon going to kill? He's pretty ruthless.

I was curious about the show and went to The CW's site to learn more. Did you know it's filmed in Covington, Georgia? My husband used to live there. Lots of shows have been filmed there including The Dukes of Hazzard and In the Heat of the Night. I also learned a bit about the characters, Elena's brother Jeremy, his real name is Steven McQueen and yes he's the grandson of the Steve McQueen. So there's some useless Vampire Diaries trivia for you. :-) I was curious about the cast because Taylor aka Michael Trevino reminds me a lot of my friend Carlos who is also a Trevino, I wonder if they are related.

Another show I watched again this weekend was Eastwick. I actually really like it. I was expecting it to be cheesy but I like the way it is played out. A little over the top but it works. I hope the show has other fans because I'd hate to see it get axed.

So what do you think of my new Halloween background?

I'm wishy washy on it. It's not permanent anyway I just wanted to do something different and ... don't know. I suppose it is OK for now. I am a simple, less is more type of girl though so I think I prefer the plain black background.

I have a bit of news to add:

My schedule for the Better Sex Erotic Fiction Contest is now going to be the week of January 18. I'll have stories for the contest that you can vote on. I am so thrilled about that.

There's an interview with me in the current issue of Dark Gothic Resurrected Magazine. You can check that out at http://bloodtouch.webs.com/darkgothicmagazine.htm

Have you dropped by Mainstream Erotica? The site is now free to check out

And don't forget to drop by the Covey Awards and vote for Eternal Desire, http://thenewcoveycoverawards.blogspot.com/2009/10/entry-27-eternal-desire.html

OK so my blog tour continues this week. Here's this week's schedule hope you'll join me for some guest blogs and giveaways.

My Blog Tour Schedule for This Week

October 16 Guest Blog at http://www.morbid-romantic.net/

And saving the best for last, there have been a couple reviews posted for Eternal Desire but the best is this amazing review by Kiki Howell.

Here's a snippet of the review by Kiki:

After reading Eternal Desire, I would have to call Roxanne Rhoads a master of words. Each sentence flowed into another with a nice blend of old elegance and contemporary style which I think is important in this type of paranormal writing to best blend the modern day setting with the ghosts and vampires of another time. I have to give you an example from the beginning of the story, “a shadowy figure in my dreams, whispering of longings and ancient secrets. I never saw his face, but his voice lingered in my soul. He was an invisible guardian, calling to me…”

(BTW, Kiki you are an amazing reviewer- want to review books at Fang-tastic?)

Monday Musings September 28

Another Monday is upon us. Yay. I say that in the most sarcastic of tones.

It's a cold, stormy day here in Michigan and I think the weather is playing with my mood. Plus there's not enough caffeine in my body yet and I didn't sleep good last night or the previous three nights. I go through these phases where I don't sleep well and I guess I am in one now. I hope it passes soon because my nerves are about shot.

Anyway I am not thinking too clearly so my random Monday Musings are truly a bunch of ramblings today. I don't really have a whole lot of news or interesting tidbits to share today.

My weekend was OK, caught up on all the new episodes of shows that started last week-House, CSI, Grey's, Smallville, and all those. I can't say I am overly thrilled with any. Grey's was good. Smallville, while I love drooling over Tom Welling, didn't thrill me at all. I am not liking where they've been taking Smallville, I just continue watching to drool over Tom (my dream man made flesh, he's just sooo beautiful)

And I'm still undecided on Vampire Diaries. I watch because it's vampires but I am not "into" it, you know. After the first episode Being Human hooked me, Vampire Diaries not so much. I find it all a little too cliched. We'll see where it goes.

I am reading a fab book, Larceny and Lace by Annette Blair. I really love Annette Blair's books, so witty and fun. Quick reads you do not want to put down. I had to pry it out of my own hands last night to go to bed. The way I tossed and turned I would have been better off finishing the book instead of trying to sleep. Oh well.

This week at Fang-tastic Books Kiki Howell will be guest blogging on Thursday and on Friday-another awesome giveaway for Free Book Friday where I might just be giving away more than one book to kick off a spooktacular October.

Hopefully my usual glee over October will soon be upon me because I am an Autumn child and I love October and have loads planned for a scare-tastic month.

Right now though...just not feeling it. :-(

Off to refill my giant coffee mug. Maybe I really need this Blood Energy Potion.

Monday Musings September 14

So it was a rough weekend, full of stress but I did get some good news. Just a little though, enough to offer a slimmer of light to guide me through the darkness.

I was so stressed I didn't get much writing done so instead I zoned out with TV. My brain hurt too much to think and TV is a great mind number.

Guess what I found? A marathon of old Wolf Lake tv shows on Chiller. I watched nine episodes, I wonder if that's all there was? I remember catching a few episodes back in 2001 and wondering what happened to the show.

Paranormal just didn't do good back then. I bet a show like that would rock now especially seeing it's in the same Seattle area/setting that Twilight is in plus it's werewolves. And the dark brooding eyebrow guy from the new Vampire Diaries was in it.

I now think he must really be a vampire because in the 8 or 9 years since the show he still looks the same and still plays a teenager, of course now in the Vampire Diaries he's an immortal teenager, in Wolf Lake he was the brooding bad boy son of the pack's Alpha. Talk about typecast. I've seen this guy as a werewolf, a Nephelim, and now a vampire. Must be the eyebrows that get him cast as non-human. :-)

Anyway, Wolf Lake was a pretty good show I would have liked to see where they were going with the storyline.

I see Chiller is playing some other television shows that were short lived. I am going to have to check them out.

OK, so onto other things. Dawne Domique will be here tomorrow discussing her new vampire book Eden's Hell.

Last week's contests are still open so make sure to get your name in the comments section before winners are picked tomorrow for Free Book Friday and the Terry Spear contest. Good luck.

Monday Musing August 31, 2009

The last day of August, fall is almost here and in a week the kids will be back to school. It's a bittersweet time of year.

Today is my grandma's birthday, I miss her very much. As of September 2 she'll have been gone from this world for 12 years but I still miss her like crazy. See my grandma helped raise me, it was always just me, my mom and my grandma-three women against the world. So I was really close to her. I wish she would have gotten to see my two youngest kids. She loved my oldest to death- he was her baby, such a grandma's boy. Hopefully she can see us all from the other side. Hope I am doing her proud.

Today is also my best friend's birthday. If she wasn't thousands of miles away from me in Texas we'd be going out for a drink or something. I better give her a call and wish her a Happy Birthday.

So onto happier thoughts, this week Kimberly Frost and Michelle Rowen will be joining us this week and giving away copies of their books. Woo Hoo! So in addition to Free Book Friday you'll have the chance to win two other books this week, too.

Did you watch the season finale of Being Human? George finally embraced his inner wolf. So cool. Looks like it is going to get interesting next season. I really hope it comes back-soon. I am so in love with Mitchell. Isn't he the epitome of the dark and brooding vampire? He's a little thin for my taste but so yummy, dark and dangerous- and Irish-do you hear the Irish accent sneaking out of him? Sometimes it is more obvious than other times but it is so there. Two accents that totally just do it for me are Scottish and Irish accents- not the whole leprecaun type accent but the slight Irish accent-like what Mitchell (Aidan Turner) has.

Vampire Diaries starts next week! I've heard mixed reviews about it. I am looking forward to it just because it's a vamp show. I already have the season set to record on my DVR. I am also looking forward to the new seasons of Bones, Castle, House and Dexter- and my secret guilty pleasures Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. And of course I watch CSI and Smallville (the show has started sucking but I have to see Tom Welling he is sooo drool worthy).

I want to thank whoever invented the DVR because before we had it I couldn't watch anything. Between the kids and my husband controlling the remote...I missed so much. Now I can watch my shows after everyone goes to bed or whenever I want. And the best part- fast forwarding through commercials. LOL.

Onto book news and writing related stuff.

I was checking out next year's RT convention and it is going to be in Columbus, Ohio. That's only five hour drive from me. See I don't fly and hate the thought of driving extremely far away. So one hurdle down- now I just have to figure out how to afford to go and who will watch my kids while I am gone.

Plus my daughter's birthday is that Sunday, May 2. I'll have to come home on Saturday and plan all her b-day stuff in advance or hubby will be dealing with tons of screaming girls Saturday all on his own, which would be fine because he is so much better with kids than I am. But the organizing and planning are what he totally sucks at.

I hope I can go for a few days, I have never went before so I have no idea what to expect but really want to go to some of the workshops and meet with all the writers I love. Don't they also have dances, Balls and themed dinners and stuff? Are those extra or part of the package price?

So those are my random Monday Musings everyone, now I am off to write.

Oh, my novella, Eternal Desire comes out in a little over a month-October 7th.
